something like fire
Fish Factory, Creative Centre of Stöðvarfjörður, East Fjörds, Iceland
November 2024
12 sheets of vellum, ink, clay

A project completed at 'Fish Factory Creative Centre', Stöðvarfjörður, in the East Fjords of Iceland over November 2024, comprised of 12 text segments. Each page of writing was printed on vellum and wrapped in clay to help protect and preserve the text. 11 tablets were placed/buried around the village of Stöðvarfjörður and 1 in between the Mid-Atlantic ridge, tectonic plate boundary in Thingvellír. After 3 weeks, 8 were uncovered, 3 were swallowed by the land and 1 piece remains unexcavated around the residency centre in Stöðvarfjörður.
Thinking on the fragile yet overwhelming strength of historically preservative text based material, time conservational capacities in the harshness of landscape and a persistent fear or anxiety of loss.
